[Enugu]–The Flying Antelopes handler, Imama Amapakabo claims his side does not need extra motivation to improve their standing on the Nigerian topflight table.

“Enugu Rangers current position on the Nigeria Professional Football League is enough motivation for the players to win all their outstanding games”, says Imama Amapakabo

The defending champion kicked off their title defence on a low – losing 2-1 to Abia Warriors on match day one, and they are ranked 20th on the log with six points from six games, and the handler is confident that his players can turn the tide around for a better ranking on the log.

“Looking at the league table and seeing where we are, it is enough motivation for the boys, I don’t need to overstress, it is just the time that we just must win – maximum nine points to get back into contention, which we are working heavily hard to achieve,” Amapakabo said.

The former Warri Wolves assistant coach led the Enugu-based side to the next round of Caf Champions League tourney after edging Algeria’s JS Saoura out on an away goal rule.

“So I prefer not to mount pressure on the players because we know exactly what we have to do.”

Amapakabo also admitted that some of his players will be tired after the two-legged clash against the Algerian topflight, but insisted that he has a large pool of quality players to represent the team at every point in time, Goal reports.

“Of course fatigue is setting in but then that is why we have a bigger squad for those other players to get playing time, but as it is, that is my problem now to manage the squad as much as possible to achieve desired results.”
