Memory Fool; Graveyard Full

Reading Time: 3 minutes

[Poetry]–I hear the things you do not say

I see the things you don’t show me

You are absent but your presence is eminent

Am I missing you?

No, I’m not

I just wish your remains left with you.

For the graveyard is full

You said you are a mother

But I heard ‘murderer’

You showed me pictures of you holding your children

But I saw pictures of you in the abandoned building where you abandoned me for snakes and lizards

You are absent but the trauma you left is eminent

Am I missing you?

No, I’m not

I just wish your remains left with you.

For the graveyard is full.

You said you are traveling

But I heard ‘cheating’

You showed me pictures of you being in a meeting

But I saw pictures of you sleeping with a fair lady

My dear husband, you are absent but the deadly virus you gave me is still present

Am I missing you?

No, I’m not

I just wish your remains left with you.

For the graveyard is full.

You said you are a leader

But I heard ‘looter’

You showed me pictures of your fist, saying you are fighting for the union

But I saw pictures of you holding the money you stole from the union tightly in your fists

My dear Presido, you are absent but the empty treasury speaks.

Am I missing you?

No, I’m not

I just wish your remains left with you.

For the graveyard is full.

You said you are Lady Justice

But I heard ‘Lady Jezebel’

You showed me pictures of you holding the sword and the scale

But I saw pictures of you taking bribes

My dear Lady, you are not with me anymore but you forced me to be an unwilling Saviour so as to die slowly for the crime of others.

Am I missing you?

No, I’m not

I just wish your remains left with you.

For the graveyard is full.

You said you are a defender

But I heard ‘killer’

You showed me pictures of you fighting off terrorists

But I saw pictures of you bombing us accidentally

My dear generals, you are absent but the burnt bodies of our friends and families won’t leave our sight.

Am I missing you?

No, I’m not

I just wish your remains left with you.

For the graveyard is full.

They said you are hale and hearty

But I heard ‘sick and weary’

They showed us pictures of you standing and smiling

But I saw pictures of you lying down on your sick bed with that deathly, blank expression on your face, silently asking us for our prayers.

My dear Bubu, you are absent but your change agenda is still present.

Am I missing you?

No, I’m not.

I just wish your remains left with you.

For the graveyard is full

I hear the things you don’t say

I see the things you don’t show me

You are absent but your presence is eminent.

Am I missing you?

No, I’m not

I just wish your remains left with you.

For the graveyard is full, fool.
