Reading Time: 2 minutes

MFM FC of Lagos has maintained their unbeaten home record this season with an impressive 2-1 win against Nigerian Professional Football League champions, Enugu Rangers at the ‘Soccer Temple’ Agege Stadium on Friday.

The encounter which started on an evasive note saw both teams trying to take control of the game.

Obinna Nwobodo came close to handing Rangers the lead in the 15th minute with a pass from Godwin Aguda, but he played off target.

The home side responded immediately with a chance of their own but Stephen Odey also failed to direct his shot on target.

Sikiru Olatunbosun wasted another chance for the Olukoya Boys in the 23rd minute, directing his shot wide under pressure from Chibuzor Madu.

Olatunbosun however, put the hosts ahead in the 32nd minute; he atoned for that miss with a superb finish off a Odey flick in the 32nd minute, firing a magnificent volley past Itodo Akor in the Rangers goal.

The visitors who were playing their third game in six days fizzled out afterwards, struggling to cope with the pace of their opponents.

Odey added a second goal on the hour mark of the first half after he was teed up by Chukwuma Onua.

It was Odey’s sixth goal of the campaign.

Bobby Clement halved the deficit handing Rangers a life line when he fired home from the edge of the box nine minutes from time.

It would be recalled that the defending champions won their last match mid-week making an impression of a comeback but all seemed to be plastic as they have only won two games in their last seven matches.

The Flying Antelopes had however, despite their lose shattered MFM goal concession record as the found the back of their host net, the first of its kind this season.
