[U.S]–Rap superstar, Nicki Minaj, on Saturday responded to Remy Ma’s diss track, “Shether” with a barrage of tweets aimed at discrediting the latter rapper’s claim to be the queen of rap music.
After citing sales figures and societal relevance as factors on her side, Minaj posted an Instagram video in which “Halo” singer, Beyonce praised Minaj with a remixed accapela rendition of Prince’s classic track “Nikki”, calling her the queen of rap.
As was to be expected with her history of staying away from controversial headlines, Beyonce is yet to reply.
Minaj, who got her 70th Hot 100 hit late last year with her song, ” Black Barbies”, was ired by Ma’s lyrics which were clearly aimed at her.
Ma made reference to the “Anaconda” rapper’s past lovers and public feuds with Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Mariah Carey.
Part of the lyrics goes:
“And I saw Meek at All-Star, he told me your a** dropped/He couldn’t f— you for three months because your a** dropped/Meek, Drake, Safaree, I see men in your pants”
Those words are references to Minaj’s surgically enhanced hind posterior and rumoured affair with fellow rapper,, Drake.
Ma name checked a number of celebrities, many of whom have responded on social media to the controversial occurrence.
Trey Songz was one of the first artists to deliver a response, writing on Twitter, “Even when you stay out of the way they will have ya name all in some sh*t. Wake up to new comedy everyday. Focus.”
Then, directly to Minaj, he tweeted, “You need to be mad at Remy Nicki … cause if you check my Instagram feed I already denied it on video so words didn’t get misconstrued. I didn’t post anything indirect. I gathered a understanding of events and then spoke my piece. You just mad. I still love you.”
Minaj’s clap back track is expected to drop soon. Please Follow Us @ThePageNg
