[Ibadan]– The management of the University of Ibadan has officially announced the date of the matriculation ceremony for the newly admitted undergraduates and postgraduate students for the 2016/17 academic session.

The ceremony which will hold on Thursday, March 09, 2017, was disclosed in an Internal Memorandum from the office office of the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Dr. Ikeoluwapo Moody, and addressed to “Provost, All Deans, All Faculty Officers.”

The memorandum partly reads; “This is to inform you that the matriculation ceremony for 2016/2017 academic session will take place on Thursday 9th of March 2017 in the main Hall of the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, the ceremony will commence at 10:00am.”

It further states that, “matriculants must be formally dressed and be seated in the Hall by 9:30am.”

It should be noted that this information is coming about a week after the University announced her decision to adopt a 4.0 grading system for her newly admitted students, which is different from the 7.0 scale which the University of known for and also different from the 5.0 scale adopted by other universities in Nigeria.

It will be recalled that the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) in 2015 pegged maximum CGPA at 5.0 for uniform grading system for all universities in Nigeria, however, it is unclear whether University of Ibadan is being exempted.
