[Ibadan]–Some beneficiaries of the N-Power job initiative of the Federal Government in Oyo State staged a peaceful protest in Ibadan on Tuesday over non-payment of their monthly stipends since December last year.

The protesters besieged the state Ministry of Women Affairs, Poverty Alleviation and Social Development at the Secretariat Complex, Agodi, where they informed the officials that they had been cleared but wondered why they were yet to be receiving the monthly stipends.

Some of the protesters expressed their fear that the delay in the payment by those in charge could tantamount to siphoning their money for selfish interests.

Some of the protesters remarked that it was unfortunate that their efforts to meet the focal persons of the scheme in the state had met brick walls.

One of the beneficiaries, Kehinde Omolola said the officials of the National Orientation Agency, State Universal Basic Education Board, Ministry of Education and the Women Affairs had been pushing them around since the commencement of the payment of December 2016 allowance in January this year.

However, an official at the Poverty Alleviation department in the Ministry, Mr. Adekunle Sunday, later pacified the protesters and moved them out of the premises.
