While giving a short address at his first coronation anniversary held at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, on March 4, 2017, the octogenarian monarch had said he preferred to be called ‘Shehu’, which is commonly used by revered Islamic cleric, rather than Oba.
The reason for this, according to the Oba, is because only the God Almighty who has been the one keeping him alive and healthy after one year on the throne is worthy of being referred to as an Oba.
The statement which amused the audience saw them chanting ‘Shehu’ as many saw it as a joke.
He thereafter thank God for a successful one-year reign so far.
He thanked and prayed for all his subject, well-wishers and colleagues for their support and cooperation through the year.
