- Cancels two unaccredited courses.
[Kwara]–Kwara State Executive Council has approved 3.5 billion Naira for the construction of two satellite campuses and a school of business and governance for the Kwara State University to be funded under the state’s Infrastructure Development Fund.
This was conveyed by the state commissioner for information and communication, Babatunde Ajeigbe who briefed newsmen after the State Executive Council’s weekly meeting held in Ilorin last week.
He said the council has approved the construction two campuses in Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area in Kwara South and the other one in Ilesha-Baruba, Baruten Local Governement Area in Kwara North and he explained that the work would involve lecture rooms, students’ hostels and staff quarters building as well as the construction of road and water facilities.
Ajeigbe further disclosed that the government has approved the cancellation of two courses in the institution, namely: Legal Administration and Portuguese Language as both courses are not accredited by the appropriate educational bodies.
It will be noted that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has recently approved the take-off of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering degree programme at KWASU, a development which has positioned KWASU to become the first and only Nigerian University to offer such a degree.
Kwara State University, established in 2009 under the administration of Governor Bukola Saraki, has Professor Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah as the first and current Vice Chancellor of the institution.
