World Bank commends Osun Government over project monitoring, implementation

[Osun]–World Bank has hailed Osun State government for proper monitoring, implementation and project  execution in the State.

It was said by the Task Team Leader of World Bank, Abuja, Prof.  Foluso Okunmadewa at the mid-term review for Youth Employment and Social Support Operation/Community and Social Development Project implementation in Osogbo, Osun-State.

Prof. Okunmadewa said the relationship between the organization and the state government has been a cordial one which has led to several achievement of erecting several infrastructures in the state even with the current status of country economy.

He said “The essence of the field visitation  by representatives of the World Bank is to assess the level of implementation done by the agencies(YESSO and CSDP) concerned and to identify constraints to its success”

“The technical session is to gather issues, embark on studies and go into consultations to form groups that will agree on best solutions.

By the end of 2017, we will have a technical meeting to effect these changes and go into 2018 with a better design”.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Coordinator of the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) in Osun State, Mr. Femi Ifaturoti, represented by the head of operations, Mr. Sola Adetoye, noted that 540 communities in 18 local government areas of the state have so far been registered in the programme with over 1,000 poor Youths benefiting.

He stated that the programme is designed to provide public workfare jobs for the younger generation and it  is expected to cover all local governments in the state in the coming months.

He said  “As I speak to you, we have penetrated over 540 communities in 18 local government areas of the state to annihilate poverty, we are working to ensure that we cut across all poorest of the poor households in the state in providing succour to our people”

However, he identified trust, poor mobility, superstitions and others as the challenges hindering the success of the programme.

At the session were the World Bank representatives from World Bank office, Washington DC, Mrs. Toni Koleva, Osun State General Manager, Community Development Support Programme, Mrs Toyin Jinadu, Project officer, Osun CSDP, Mrs. Aduke Obelawo among others.
