[Ibadan]–Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the executive governor of Oyo state has implored the new commissioner of police to help arrest miscreants in the state.

He made this plea while receiving the new state commissioner of police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, in his office yesterday, Thursday, March 9, 2017.

The governor revealed that majority of these miscreants are known and he thereby pleaded with the police chief to encourage community policing.

He further revealed that these miscreants have been conniving with members of the NURTW to terrorise contractors working on new road projects.

“These miscreants have been terrorising our contractors working on the roads, we will not fold our arms and watch people take  the laws into their hands.

“I want the police to ensure that these miscreants are arrested. The police should help nip thuggery in the bud,’’ he pleaded.

He further alleged that some policemen in the state have been shielding miscreants from being arrested, urging the police boss  to fish out the bad eggs within the command.

“I believe that the command under your leadership,  from the information gathered, will add value to the security of the state.

“Oyo State today is a peaceful state unlike the way we met it when we assumed office. Let me assure you that we will support you,’’ he finally promised.

THE PAGE had reported that Barely a week after resuming office, Oyo State Commissioner of Police Abiodun Adekunle Odude yesterday paraded five suspects for their alleged involvement in the kidnap of a 42-year-old woman in Ibadan, the state capital.

Odude took over from Mr. Sam Adegbuyi last week.
