[Ibadan]–GOtv is set to hold the 11th edition of its Boxing Night on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Indoor Sports Hall, Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State.
This was announced at a media briefing on Monday at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The organizers of the Boxing event, Flykite Productions has through its Chief Operating Officer, Bamidele Johnson, said the idea to take the 11th edition outside Lagos for the first time is to carry other states along.
“The decision to hold GOtv Boxing Night 11 in Ibadan was informed by suggestions from boxing fans that there is a need for other cities to enjoy top class boxing for which the event has become famous.”
“Other parts of the country will soon also enjoy Gotv Boxing.”
Meanwhile, seven bouts will be on the cards at the 11th edition on the GOtv Boxing Night.
The standout bout is a West African lightweight challenge between Nigeria’s Otto “Joe Boy” Joseph and a Ghanaian opponent Anma Dotse.
In the national bamtamweight six-round contest, Sadiq Adeleke will take on Taiwo Kareem; Waliu Arogundade will fight Rilwan Babatunde in an eight-round national light welterweight challenge, while Sule Olagbade and Wahab Adebisi will slug it out in a national lightweight eight-round challenge.
Also, Adewale Masebinu will square off against Kabiru Towolawi in an eight-round national light heavyweight challenge; Akeem Dodo will do face off with Saka Kazeem in an eight-round national light middleweight challenge clash.
Olaide Fijabi will challenge Sadiq Abdullahi aka “Police Machine” in a 12-round national light welterweight rematch.
Since the announcement of the draw, Fijabi had threatened to send “Police Machine” home in tears. The challenge is coming many months after Fijabi had defeated Police Machine in the fourth round of a six round bout.
The best boxer of the night will go home with the sum of N1million and the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy, while 50 GOtv decoders will be given to 50 lucky winners.Please Follow Us @ThePageNg
