[Abuja]–Former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to never give up on his quest to make Nigeria a better place.

He made this known during his visit to Aso Rock, which according to him, was to welcome him back and to see him in reasonable good health and urge him to do whatever he is able to do.

He informed State House correspondents that he expressed appreciation to the President for finding time during his medical vacation in London to call on telephone and commiserate with him over the death of his sister.

He mentioned that although different reports have been made in the media, some of which are discouraging at times, he added that such should not discourage the President from doing his very best for the development of the country.

“Day in day out you read in the press all sorts of things. God will give him continued strength and energy to deal with the problems of the country for the good of Nigerians

“Let me tell you the honest truth, my coming here today is to thank and welcome Mr. President back from his health issues and problems and to thank God for what He has done for him to have his health back, for him to be able to return back to work.

“The other thing also is to thank him very much indeed for ringing me from London when he was in London to commiserate with me on the death my sister”, he said.

The former military leader said it was gracious of the president and that was why he came to felicitate with him on his return and wish him good health.
