[Osun]–The Muslim Ummah of Southwest had condemned the ethnicity mentality of many tribes and told Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba,Adeyeye Ogunwusi that Islam damns such act.

The group disclosed this at Ooni’s palace during their a condolence visit to the monarch on Friday over the recent crisis.

The president of Muslim Ummah of Southwest who is also the deputy President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA), DR. Sakariyau Babalola in his speech to the monarch, said “Your efforts in promoting the cause of peace and peaceful coexistence among the peoples of the region and beyond are commendable and so widely acknowledged. Indeed, within this short period of time of your ascension to the throne, you have earned your place of honor as an ambassador of peace”

“Thus, in the eyes of Islam, home is where ever a Muslim finds himself. Islam makes no distinction among the people on the basis of ethnicity. It elevates no race, ethnic group or colour above another. What is more, Islam makes sacred the life of every human being”.

Babalola gives his reference in Qur’an 49 vs 13 ” O mankind! We created you from a single of a male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted”

“Your Majesty, on behalf of all  Muslims in the Southwest region, we commiserate with you and all the good people of Ile-Ife on the recent crisis. I want to appeal to all Muslims and indeed all the people of Ile-Ife, the Southwest region and Nigeria to choose the Path of peace in the interest of all as no people or nation develops without peace.”

He also lauded the actions of the monarch for providing the much needed balm that doused the tension and prevented the crisis from escalating.

While the monarch, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi was responding to the address of MUSWEN President, he said ” God is the creator of all religion, myself and everything you see.”

” The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar and myself are very close and we do have intensive discussion on peace and coexistence in the world especially in Nigeria ”

“We (Yoruba) are supposed to be the statutes of mystery to the world at large on peaceful coexistence because by default that is what our culture preaches irrespective  of religion, we give respect, honor, help and life is sacred to us”.
