UNIMAID: Suicide bomber shot dead by troops

[Borno]–Nigerian military troops stationed to the University of Maiduguri has shot a Boko Haram suicide bomber who attempted entry into the institution.

The suicide bomber, who tried to gain entry through the institution’s works department was shot dead on Sunday.

This was confirmed by the  public relations officer of the school, Mr Tanko Ahmed, who said that the suicide bomber had already entered the University through the back gate around 11pm Sunday night before being gunned down by a vigilant soldier.

He added that “the area (where the attack took place) have been cordoned off by security agents.”

It should be remembered that the University of Maiduguri was attacked in January 2017, where at least four people were killed and 15 others injured in a suicide bomb attack.

The blast in the month of January happened at a mosque in the staff quarters area of the University of Maiduguri, and was thought to have been carried out by a teenage girl.
