[Abuja]–The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, April 14, and Monday, April 17, as public holiday to celebrate Good Friday and Easter Monday festivals.

Speaking on behalf of the Federal Government, Minister of Interior retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.

While the minister wished all Nigerians a happy Easter celebration, he enjoined Christians in particular, and Nigerians in general, to extend the spiritual benefits of Easter, which are love, peace, justice, sacrifice and kindness to their daily living, and through this contribute to unity and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.

He further urged Nigerians to cooperate and join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari, “in his sustained efforts to build a strong and virile nation.”
