[Abuja]–The timely completion, reconstruction and reopening of the Abuja International Airport runway is a testimony that President Buhari-led government is one that listens, and is responsive to the yearnings of the people, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has said.
The Minister mentioned this in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Mr Segun Adeyemi, on Wednesday.
According to the Minister, while the Port Harcourt International Airport was closed for almost two years by the Jonathan administration, President Muhammadu Buhari decided to act like a leader by ensuring that same does not apply to the Abuja airport, even with the current level of economy.
Lai mentioned that the feat by the present government to realise that what could not be done in the over 30 years the runway was left to deteriorate was achieved in just six weeks, even under an economic recession.
He said that the President is committed to delivering the best for Nigerians, as he urged Nigerians to continue to usher support for the incumbent government.
“Nigerians elected a responsive, responsible and capable federal government.
“The clock-work precision with which everything concerning the closure of the airport and the temporary relocation to the Kaduna Airport was handled is the clearest indication yet that Nigeria can tackle any challenge,” he said.
The Minister thanked the Ethiopian Airlines that operated its scheduled Abuja flights to Kaduna and the Julius Berger construction company that worked day and night to deliver the project ahead of schedule.
He further appreciated Nigerians for the support shown towards the administration over the years, as he urged Nigerians to continue to pray, believe and support the government. Please Follow Us @ThePageNg
