Veteran Actor, Olumide Bakare leaves the world stage

[Ibadan]–Popular Nollywood actor,  Olumide Bakare is dead.

He died in the early hours of Saturday in Ibadan,  Oyo State capital.

According to media reports, Bakare, who has been sick for more than a year was discharged from the University College Hospital (UCH) last year after he was allegedly diagnosed with a respiratory disorder problem.

Some of his colleagues in the entertainment industry, including , actor Saheed Balogun confirmed the death of the actor on their social media pages.

“Yes, it is true Olumide Bakare is dead. He died on his way to his hospital. When I called his number, his personal assistant picked his phone and told me he was dead. That’s how much I can say for now,” Balogun was quoted by Tribune newspaper.

The Ibadan-based actor and former NTA staff, fondly called Chief Koko on the heels of his role in a TV series, ‘Koko Close’ back in the days, had been battling ill-health since 2013.

It should be recalled that his colleagues had last year raised funds for his treatment following his admission at the University College Hospital, UCH in Ibadan, Oyo State for treatment.
