Former Governor, Senator, Isiaka Adeleke from Osun state is dead

[Osun]–Former Governor and the first executive Governor of Osun state, Senator Isiaka Adeleke is dead.

He died this morning at Biket Hospital, Osogbo, Osun state after he suffered a heart attack, family sources told newsmen.

Adeleke was a two time Nigerian senator who represented the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State from 2007 to 2011 and was elected again under the banner of the All Progressives Congress in 2015.

He became a member of the Nigerian Senate in 2007. He ran for reelection in April 2011 on the PDP platform, coming second with 77,090 conceding the position to Mudasiru Oyetunde Hussein of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) with 121,971 votes.

Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke was born on 15 January 1955 in Enugu to senator Ayoola Adeleke and Esther Adeleke.

His father, Ayoola Adeleke was also a senator elected from Osun during the Nigerian second republic and was a labour activist from Ede who became the vice president of the United Labour Congress of Nigeria.

The Senator, popularly known as ‘S’eru ba won’, before his death was planning to re-contest for the governorship seat in the state in the 2018 coming election.

The senator is the brother of Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, the founder of Adeleke University, Ede and Uncle to popular Nigerian hip hop star, Davido.
