Suicide bombers attack UNIMAID again, the fifth attack in 2017

[Borno]–Not less than three suicide bombers have attacked the University of Maiduguri, Borno State after a series of earlier attacks this year.

The suicide bombers were however killed in the early hours of Saturday at about 1.10 a.m when they attempted to infiltrate the Department of Works of the University of Maiduguri in Borno State‎.

A security guard at the University was also killed from the explosions which occurred at about 1:10 a.m according to Premium Times.

The corpses have being evacuated by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and Borno State Emergency Management Agency, BOSEMA.

Recall that on April 10, the Nigerian military troops stationed to the University of Maiduguri shot a Boko Haram suicide bomber who attempted entry into the institution.

The attack came after the University was earlier attacked in January 2017, where at least four people were killed and 15 others injured in a suicide bomb attack.

The blast in the month of January happened at a mosque in the staff quarters area of the University of Maiduguri, and was thought to have been carried out by a teenage girl.

Just two days after the April 10 attack, two female suicide bomber blew themselves up on the edge of the University, detonated their vests close to the perimeter fence.

The latest attack before this came on April 24, when the Borno State Police Command information received indicated three female suicide bombers attempted to enter Mamanti village Jere local government area.

“They were intercepted by Civilian JTF. In the process, one of the bombers detonated IED strapped to her body killing herself alone. The other two tried to escape but were shot dead by security personnel on duty.
