[Osun]–The family of Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke has shunned the coroner panel set by Osun State government again as Osun Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titilaoye Tomori, Chief Medical Director, LAUTECH, Prof. Akeem Lasis others appears before Coroner.
The Coroner took five witnesses today (Monday), among those who were summoned by the Coroner to give evidence to the cause of death were the CMD Biket hospital, Dr. Adebisi Adenle, Osun West Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Amonbi Akintola, Executive Secretary of Ede south, Hon. Johnson Ojo, Osun State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titilaoye Tomori and the CMD LAUTECH hospital, Prof. Akeem Lasisi.
The CMD Biket, Dr. Adebisi Adenle while giving his evidence told the court that “he was lifeless and dead when he was brought in to my hospital, I don’t know the cause of his death but what I gave is the evidence of clinical death and the cause of his death can only be speculated until the result of autopsy is out”.
Another witness summon is the Osun West Senitorial Chairman, Hon Amonbi Akintola who the late Senator attends his mother’s burial on 21st April before his demise on 22nd also gave his account to the Coroner.
He said ” the late senator was invited for my mother’s burial occasion, the late Senator and Mrs. Bilikisu Sanimanu promised to grace the occasion which he did on 22nd of April”
“He got to the my party at about 4:30pm with companies of political allies and he demanded for food but unfortunately we prepared pando yam contrary to the favorite of the late senator; this made him not to eat the food ordered”
“Also he ordered for fish which he also put aside cause is not warmed. Senator Adeleke did not eat anything at my party he only drank Remy Martin with some of his political allies which he ordered one of his aide to bring the paunch from his vehicle”
“Not too long the deputy Governor arrived at the party and she sat by him and we dance and he sprayed me money”.
Another witness summoned is the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Akeem Lasis in his evidence said “When I got to the hospital the body of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke was on the morgue table of the hospital with sympathizers, family member and political allies, then the sister of the deceased named Sani Modupe Adeleke stated that they wanted an autopsy and also the coroner requested for it.
“I saw the corpse, and before any process of examination of any diagnosis in medicine, there is what we call history before examination so we asked for the person who knew the condition surrounding of the death of the Senator so the family pointed to one of the aide and the aide said he was active the previous day and he came in the midnight started complaining of leg pain so following this they sent for somebody who came to give him injections.
“I asked clearly the medical status of the person that administered the injection. I asked, ‘is the person a doctor?’ but he said no. Is he a nurse? he said he didn’t know but the person was a face they were used to.
“He mentioned various injections so at that point I asked him can he lay his hands on the empty ampoules of the injections. The family members went home to get them. The injections were five per cent Dextrose, we saw empty sachets it was like a fluid and with it, we saw intravenous fluid giving set and scalp vein needle. We saw that empty. We saw two ampoules of analgin; four ampoules of Valium (diazepam) 10ml each making 40milligrams. One ampoule of pentazocine, one ampoule of gentamicin; two ampoules of hydrocortisone.
“All of these were empty and his aide said these were what he was given. He also added that after he had been given, he called him that he don’t want to entertain any visitor and he went to sleep. He said he later he went back to check him and saw that the senator’s eyes were wide open but wasn’t breathing”
“The police and the pathologist and the police have the picture of the ampoules”.
But he added that he received a call on Tuesday from the family of Adeleke through the contact of Module Adeleke threatening that the report must not be given to any other person than the family.
“I got a call from the Modupe Adeleke saying Deji Adeleke want to speak with me and she handed over the phone to him. He said the report of the autopsy should not be handed over to any other person than the family else I will pay for the price”
“He also accused me of playing game with Aregbesola over his brothers death which I informed the securities, Governor, Minister of Health, many prominent people and friends.
In this case I have handled the matter as professionally as I can,” he added.
The Coroner, Chief Magistrate, Olusegun Ayilara after the witnesses were taken adjourned the sitting to May, 16th 2017 for futher taking of evidence as he ordered the summon of Lasun Olaniyi, Lukuman, Engrn. Oni and Alfred Aderibigbe.Please Follow Us @ThePageNg
