[Osun]–Scores of Officer of the Nigerian Air force Institute of Safety, Ipetu Ijesa, Osun State has on Tuesday beaten and injured some workers and Students of the Osun State University inside the University’s Campus.
A video which was recorded secretly indicating the numbers of the officers that invaded the campus was made available to our correspondent.
In the video, a red patrol van was seen parked inside the campus. A total number of 23 Airforce officers were all armed with gun, Twenty of the officer were wearing Camouflage while three of the officers were wearing white uniform.
However, the cause of the invasion and brutal attack in the institution was only speculated by some resident of the community which our correspondent spoke with on phone.
A resident who claimed anonymity said “the Airforce men came to arrest some students , who they claimed were involved in internet fraud and on the course of the operation several people were injured severely”
“No fewer than 11 students were injured in the attack while two workers were also injured as the military men used gun butts, cutlass and sticks freely on anyone they came across”.
It was also gathered that the officers invaded the campus again after the first attack that led several people being hospitalised to continue the attack and action.
When the Dean, Student Affairs of UNIOSUN, Dr. Adebimpe Adigun was contacted on phone, she said the attack was a rude shock to the campus.
She said “ Six of our students are on beds in the hospital now, five were being treated on the bench now. Two members of staff were also wounded by these military men”
“They did not fire a single shot but they beat students and injured them , they also beat staff and everybody . They threatened to shoot me if I moved close to them . I knelt down and begged them but they did not listen . I called their commandant on the telephone to help talk to his boys. I think he did that because they have left our campus now .
“ But we are yet to see some of our students , who ran inside the bush to escape the attack .”
Efforts to speak with the Commandant of the Airforce, Air Commodore Jolasinmi, proved abortive as his phone number indicated that it was out of coverage area. Please Follow Us @ThePageNg
