Our War, not their war! by Odolaye Aremu

[Analyses]–It is ‘Our’ War, and not just their war! We own it all together from its start, beyond its gory historical value; and way beyond the diametrically opposing perspectives: in the same manner we’ve been forever sharing our national pastime- Corruption, the Recession, the dividends from our dirty politics, the bands of brigand Senate, the national Vaingloriousness and our boundless Immorality together, equally!

The Biafra issue is a contentious matter no doubt but it is borderline sadism on our part to begrudge the pains of the man tied to the whipping post. His pain, for one is subjective. He can’t transfer it. And we can’t mock him either for burying his dead, or continue to lavish our insensitivity upon him for celebrating the ghosts from his immediate past! It is truly difficult to walk away from his enabling cantankerousness without wanting to pour more gasoline upon his burning flame. I get that part! But we all need healing! This nation is frightfully sick!

Of course we are a people who can never, ever be free from the grip of our soulless Politicians, unconscionable populists -those leeches constantly feasting on our collective, succulent brain matter; those ever present telemarketers of carnage and destiny robbers constantly dialing up chaos and mayhem from their ultra-luxurious remote bunkers. Unfortunately we are all victims of an ongoing cardinal brainwashing regimen! Sadder, we are oblivious of that obvious fact!

It is a game to them, but it is our lives they are playing this potentially bloody game of Dominoes with!
