[Zamfara]– A total of 378 persons would get N20,000 each as over N8.9 million has been distributed to the needy as Zakaat by the Zurmi Emirate Council in Zamfara State.
The distribution was made by the deputy governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala, on behalf of the state governor,on Sunday, in Zurmi local government, Zamfara state.
The Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, who doubles as the chairman of the Zakkat Collection Committee of the emirate, while speaking at the event which took place at his palace said that the needy, especially orphans, widows and the less-privileged in the emirate would be the beneficiaries of the Zakaat.
He added that 570 bags of assorted grains were collected from farmers which would also be shared to the needy.
The Deputy governor further reminded people of the state that Zakkat is mandatory on every Muslim, who had the resources as he urged all those who were supposed to make the annual offering from their wealth, such as money, animals and grains, to continue to do so, in order to improve the well-being of the poor.
It should be noted that the Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, had earlier donated clothes to 5,000 widows, orphans, needy and people with disabilities for sallah celebration.
Distributing the materials at his resident on Saturday in Gusau, Wakkala said the donation was his own personal assistance to the needy.
“You know, Islam is always recognizing assisting the needy especially in this holy month of Ramadan.
“Therefore, it is part of my personal activities in month of Ramadan to provide food and clothing materials and cash to the needy in order to assist them to fast, worship and celebrate sallah in happy mood.
“As Muslims, we all know in the Holy Qur’an, the Almighty Allah has commanded and encouraged giving out assistance to needy during this holy month of Ramadan.
“I am, therefore, using this medium to call on well meaning individuals and political office holders to provide similar assistance to the people in their respective communities,” he said.Please Follow Us @ThePageNg
