Four feared dead as armed robbers attack three banks in Iwo

[Osun]–It was a tragedy afternoon in Iwo, Osun State when four lives were lost as some numbers of Armed robbers attacked Three banks via Bowen University.

It was learnt that the terror attack was launched on the three banks namely; First Bank, Sterling Bank and Skye Bank about some minute to 4pm on Tuesday.

A security source said the armed robbers shot sporadically to create tension in the area while the gang split up to the banks and police stations for attack.

It was gathered that three policemen were killed while an armed robber was also killed by the effort of Nigeria Police Officer who tried to counter the attack.

A resident of the community who don’t want to be named said ” The banks do close by 12noon before the dread attack that claim lives”.

It was alleged that the bandits blasted the ATM point of one of the banks and whisked away some money.

Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi confirmed the incident on telephone on Tuesday night.

He said “The armed robbers left some vehicles and ran away when some residents reinforce to void the attack. The ran on foot but I heard that they are still on their trail”

When call was put through to the Police public relation officer, Osun State, Mrs. Folashade Odoro the line is out of reach when filing this report.

However, Mrs. Odoro had earlier sent a message to a social media platform that “Our Squads are already on ground”.
