UI threatens medical students to pay ‘bench fees’ for exams or risk indefinite postponement

[Ibadan]–The Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan has ordered students who wants to sit for the Part II Examination in Pharmacology and Pathology to pay bench fees of 7,500 naira each or risk indefinite postponement of their exams.

This is contained in a leaked internal memo dated June 6, addressed to the 2015 MBBS students and signed by all the HODs in the Faculty.

The students are required to comply with the directive within 48 hours.

“The University Administration has directed every student that wants to sit for the June 2017 Part II Examination (Pharmacology and Pathology) to pay N7,500 to the account with details below as follows:

“Account Name: Archives of Basic and Applied medicine
Bank Name First Bank Nigeria PLC
Account Number 2030453924
Narration of Payment: Bench fees

“After payment each student should submit a copy of the teller to the office of HOD Pathology to collect his or her Exam form for onward submission to Examination office.

“By the 8th June, 2017 total compliance is expected without which the Examination will be postponed indefinitely,” the memo threatened.

Recalled that with the introduction of the Treasury Single Account by the Federal Government, all legitimate revenues from all government agencies, institutions and ministries are expected to be paid through the Remita platform.
