Farmers may soon launch reprisal attack on herdsmen in Southwest- Yoruba Youths

[Osun]–The Yoruba Sociocultural Association has threatened herdsmen against incessant attack.

This was contained in a statement by the President of Yoruba Socio-cultural Association, Mr. Olalekan Hammed on Tuesday.

The statement read “Herdsmen will soon push us to wall, The apex Yoruba youth body, Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association(YYSA) use this medium to raises alarm on possible crisis that may soon occur if herdsmen menace continues.

“The impunity of The so called herdsmen is now exceeding tolerable extent as the they failed to desist from their evil.

“Some herdsmen invaded the farm of former secretary to government of the federation, Chief Olu Falae at Kajola, Akure local government Ondo State. He called the attention of the police to it but unfortunately the herdsmen opened fire on police officers that came around. This is not the first time when the killer herdsmen would invade farm, allow their cattle to eat up farm products and at times kill farmers without facing the wrath of the law.

“YYSA is hereby encouraging farmers in Southwest to as a matter of urgency apply available chemicals to their plants/crops so that it would not be eatable for cattle.

“The group also implores farmers to take effective collective measures to guide against herdsmen deadly and perpetual threat.

“If not, farming would totally becomes discouraged in Southwest. Already some youths have quited  the profession due to herdsmen mayhem,” the statement warned.
