[Osun]–The Osun West Senatorial Election that was held on Saturday was peaceful in all the polling that was visited by our correspondent was peaceful.
Our correspondent visited Egbedoore, Ede North, Ede South and Ejigbo local government witnessed a very calm and tension free voting exercise in all this local government area.
The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Otunba Ademola Adeleke voted at Saagba Abogunde ward 2 unit 9 by 9:15AM while The All Progressive Congress candidate, Sen. Mudasiru Hussain voted at ward 3 unit 1 Beulah primary school by 9:30AM in Ejigbo.
Otunba Ademola Adeleke while addressing journalists after he casted his vote said ” The rain that fell is for my own blessing as you can see that the exercise is very peaceful and no fight. I am very optimistic and with God on myside I know that victory is sure”.
While Sen. Mudasiru Hussain also said “I am very optimistic about this election and know that their will be light at the end of the tunnel of this election”.
Meanwhile, the same peaceful report was gathered at other six local government that made up the Osun West Senatorial District.
Our correspondent saw armed and unarmed security operative in all polling units; some Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps officer where seen in their van with dogs while Nigeria Army officer were seen at road effecting restriction of movement and checking the accredited vehicle while Police are seen at the polling center to ensure that law and order are maintained.
However, the officer of Nigeria Immigration service are seen all around Ejigbo community.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has pulled a surprise victory by winning nine out of the 10 local governments in the district.
This was contained in an announcement by the Returning Officer, Olaide Lawal, a professor at the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, which showed that the PDP candidate had 31, 165 votes more than his APC colleague.
It was said that Ademola Adeleke, rode on the people’s sentiments for his late brother Isiaka Adeleke.
Recall that Adeleke joined the PDP after he broke out with the All Progressives Congress where he was a contestant over alleged irregularities in the conduct of its primaries.
