Police arraign Driver for stealing three bags of Rice in Osun

[Osun]–A 35 year old man, Afolabi Yusuf has been arraigned before Osun State magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, the State for stealing three bags of Rice valued 46,800.

Yusuf was Arraigned before Magistrate court which presided over by chief Mr Ashiru Ayeni on a one count charge bearing on theft.

The prosecutor, Inspector Oladoye Joshua told the court that the accused committed the offense on August 8. 2017 at about 12.30pm at Ataoja area in Osogbo.

He explained that the accused stole three bags of Rice valued 46,800 property of Odunayo Adedoyin, the Complainant.

Inspector Joshua added that the offense committed by the accused is contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9)  of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2003.

The charge sheet sighted by our correspondence reads ” That you Afolabi Yusuf on the 10th of August at about 12.30pm at Ataoja area Osogbo in the Osogbo magistrateria district did steal three bags of Rice valued forty six thousands eight hundred naira (46,800) property of one Odunayo Adedoyin (f)  and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the one count charge preferred against him by the police.

The defense counsel, Mr Okobe Najite applied for his client bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.

The magistrate, Chief Ashiru Ayeni granted the accused bail in sum of 50,000 with one surety.

He therefore adjourned  the case to October 24 for mention.
