Thank you for visiting our website. At The Page, we strongly believe in you and we respect your freedom of expression. We appreciate your comments, we love your feedback and we believe the success of this platform rests largely on your right to give comments without being restricted.

However, we also believe that decency and fairness play a major role in the survival of freedom. Therefore, while we publish 99.9% of your comments, we expect you to take note of the following rules:

Core Rules

Rule #1 – Comments deemed to be spam or questionable spam will be deleted. When you are including adding a link to your comment, do make sure it is relevant to the story in question and to your comment.

Rule #2 – Comments including obscene, indecent or profane language may be deleted.

Rule #3 – Comments containing language or concepts that could be deemed offensive may be deleted.

Rule #4 – Comments that unnecessarily attack a person individually will be deleted. These include threats and/or defamatory statements.

Rule #5 – Comments containing hate speech directed at race, color, sex, national origin, ethnicity, age, religion, or disability may be deleted.

 Other Guidelines


We make two different commenting systems available to our visitors: An internal WordPress-based comment system and a comment system that allows a synchronization of shared thoughts with your logged in Facebook account.

Our visitors are permitted to choose which of these systems they want to use to publish their comments. For those that employ our WordPress-based commenting system, The Page reserves the right to publish or not to publish such comments subjected to the core rules above.

However, comments left on stories using Facebook Comments will only be subject to Facebook’s regulations and terms governing publishing on its platform.

Right on your Comment

Do not submit copyrighted or other proprietary material in any form unless you clearly indicate that you have permission to do so. By posting your comments or other work, you grant The Page and anyone viewing this website irrevocable permission to copy, distribute, make derivatives, display or perform the commenter’s work publicly and free-of-charge.

When Not To Use the Comment Area

If you have a general question directly regarding The Page, please do not use the comment, instead visit our Contact page. Comment area is not the best place to ask a question that is not related to the post. If you want to report anything going on in your area, kindly use the Street Journalism Link in the menu above. If your comment contains personal information, or have a personal question specific to the site, we will delete your comment and use your email to contact you regarding the question.

Other Policies

  1. Identity – We do not allow Keywords stuffed in the name field. You must use your name or nick name for commenting. Comments using keywords such as “Web Design Company” or similar will be flagged as SPAM and out rightly deleted.
  2. Email Address – Email addresses are required for commenting, and they are not published on the blog, nor shared. Email addresses that look like SPAM will be flagged as SPAM.
  3. Allowed Languages – The Page is a Nigerian based newspaper platform. Though, it is presently being published in English, we allow comments in Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa languages subjected to all the core rules above.
  4. Disclaimer – All comments published on The Page are the responsibility of the commenter, not the editorial staff of The Page. By submitting a comment on our website, you agree that the comment content is your own, and you agree to hold The Page, all subsidiaries of The Page, and all representatives of The Page harmless from any and all repercussions, damages, or liability.

If you leave a comment on any of the stories and it does not appear in a reasonable period of 24 hours. If you are sure that it does not violate these Comment Policies, please contact us using the Contact Form in the Link above.
